Talk и speak употребляются наравне друг с другом во всех случаях, кроме того, когда мы хотим сказать, что говорим на каком-то языке, в этом случае надо использовать speak, но никак не talk
и если нужно выбрать между speak и talk во фразе типа "They are ____ about their future", то лучше talking
Speak всё-таки больше подразумевает речь(например, на совещании), а talk - разговор, общение.
