I live in Tambov. It is a city with a rich history. It began, as was customary in Russia, with the construction of a fortress to protect against nomads. The fortress turned out to be famous, and the place was chosen so that nature itself acted as an ally and protector of the city's population. I must say that Tambov was more fortunate than other Russian cities. Since the construction of fortifications (1636) the foot of the foreign enemy has never set foot on this land. This is partly why Tambov managed to preserve the main wealth — historical and cultural heritage — as well as carefully weave it all into modern life.
Not only history, but also the nature of the region can attract tourists here. Few where you will see at the same time vast grain fields and endless forests, steppe expanses and river valleys. I must say that Tambov was one of the main granaries of the Empire. And today it is one of the most environmentally friendly cities in Russia, even though there are large enterprises. But if you are still very sensitive to your health — just rent an apartment for a day in Tambov away from the industrial zone.
