В первом предложении был нарушен порядок слов, который очень важен в английском языке. Сначала идет подлежащее (He), затем сказуемое (went), далее обстоятельство место (куда? В Нью-Йорк), ну и в конце обстоятельство времени. (Когда? Два года назад).
Во втором предложении также был нарушен порядок слов. В английской грамматике предложения должны идти по четкой формуле построения. Сначала подлежащее (I), затем конструкция hardly ever, которая следует ЗА подлежащим, затем сказуемое (meet), затем дополнение (кого? Американцев) и в конце обязательно обстоятельство места. (Где? В моем городе).

I'm glad to hear from you again. I congratulate you with your success in Russian language. In my case, I took exam in English. It was really difficult. There was 3 parts: listening, speaking and grammar test. The most difficult part for me was listening part. I practice all day long. I started to listen BBC news and then tried to understand it. Also I tried to translate pop songs. My result was a high score on listening part.
