My favourite writer is William Shakpeare. William Shakespeare was born in April 1564/ His father was a rich man, hoose business was making and selling gloves. His mother was daughter of an important farmer. When he was nineteen, William married Anne. In 1587 Shekespeare went to wort in London, leaving Ann and the children at home. Some years later he began to write plays. By 1592 Shakespeare was an important member of a well-known company. In 1599 the famous Globe Theatre was built on the south bank of the river Thames. In that theatre most of his plays were performed. By 1603 Shakespeare was leading poet and dramatist of his time. William lived and worked on London 25 years. In all he wrote 37 plays, 2 long poems, 155 sonnets. William Shakespeare had a natural gift of comedy. In his comedes "Two Gentelemen of Verona", "As you like it", " The Twelfth Night" he described the adventares of young men and women, their love, friendship, happiness. In 1613 he finally stopped writing and went to live in Statford where he died in 1616. Sice 1879 Shakespeare's Festival has been held every year at Straford- upon- Awan.

Dear "English Bridge",
I'd like to tell about the invention of telephone. It was invented by Alexander Bell in 1875. Alexander Bell was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. When his family went to America, he was given a teaching position with deaf people and he became interested in speech. His work was financed by the father of one of his pupils. The story goes that Bell invented the telephone by accident. At the time he was experimenting with the telegraph. He spilled some acid and called his assistant. "Come here, Mr Watson, I want to see you" Watson was in the other room and he heard Bell through apparatus. The first telephone exchange which connected 21 people was opened 1878. The first communication satellite was launched in 1962

Hi, everybody!
I think that one of the most important inventions for the mankind of the first accurate clock which was designed by Christian Huygens in 1657. Christian Huygens was born in the Hague, Holland.<span>Mechanical clocks were made in the 14th century but they were too inaccurate to have minute hands.
Shadow clocks or sundials are the oldest instrument for telling the time. They were developed more than 4000 years ago. Water clocks were used in ancient Egypt. Time was measured by how long it took water to flow out of holes in a container. Sand clocks werw used in the Middle Ages. If they took an hour to empty they were called hourglasses. Today they are still often used as kitchen egg-timers. Pocket watches were invented in about 1500 and wristwatches started to get popular around 1900 when they were made mainly in France and Switzerland.
With my best wishes
