I have never before been interested in Ukrainian mythology, als recently I learned that from ukrainskoi mythology so much breathtaking. I likes the most like a gyro like Viy.Meini most likes such a gyro as Viy.Vyy - probably the most popular character of Ukrainian mythology. About him were legends, about him were writing books, about him filmed a movie. And not for nothing, because from stories about him really go ants on the body.Via described as an ugly creature with huge eyes, thick eyebrows, long eyelashes and heavy eyelids. He himself was not able to open his eyes, so he was assisted by two strong men. But when his eyes were lifted, his eyes became a killer for everything that would be on his way: people were killed, entire villages and cities were destroyed. It could be assumed that such a legend arose as a result of the belief in the destructive power of " eye "which he cares for everything is spoiling. Probably the name of this monster comes from the word" eyelashes ", which he had unnaturally long.
What of this fiction, and that's true, we have probably and never know, but the legends about some mythical creatures, albeit somewhat changed, have come to this day. So, we have the opportunity to find out what mythical creatures previously had a horror on our ancestors, and what protected them.
