Старшие офицеры тренировали их до 18 лет. С каждым годом тренировка становилась сложнее. Испытания которые они проходили, были жестоки и болезненны. Некоторые спартанцы учились хорошо читать и писать, но они не учили науку и математику так как это не помогало стать хорошими войнами готовыми отдать жизнь за Спарту. Музыка, танцы и т.п. Были частью их обучения. И когда они достигали возраста 20 лет, они становились настоящими Войнами, готовые сражаться за свою страну. И только когда они достигали возраста 60 лет, они могли жить дома, со своей семьей.
