Kyiv — the Capital of Ukraine
According to the chronicles Kyiv’s first citadel was built in the period from the sixth to eighth centuries. Kyiv bears the name of prince Kyi, who lived on the old Kyiv Hill in the sixth century. Under the rule of Yaroslav the Wise Kyivan Rus with Kyiv as its capital reached the height of its power.

It is known that in the past sweet dishes were cooled with snow and ice. They were enjoyed by the rich and powerful such as Alexander the Great, the Egyptian Pharaohs, and the Emperor Nero.
The first real ice-cream was made with fresh cream and milk. It was produced in the 1630s by Gerald Tissain, the French <span>chef</span> of the British King, Charles I<span> ,</span> During the 18th century ice-cream was eaten regularly at fashionable ice-cream cafes in London, Paris and other great cities. It was still a great luxury. For example, George Washington spent $200 on ice-cream for just two months in 1790.
The cost was reduced when the first ice-cream factory was built in1851. At present the Italians are known as the great ice-cream makers. The Italian methods were studied by many others, so today excellent ice-cream is made and is enjoyed all over the world.
