New year is one of the most popular holidays in Russia and probably worldwide. It is celebrated on the 31st of December going on to the 1st of January. During the holiday season the whole country gets decorated with lights and Xmas trees. Students go on a school break and all the people rush to the stores to get gifts for their friends and family. There are also a lot of shows and concerts dedicated to the celebration of The New Year. As to Russian family traditions, usually on the New Year’s Eve all the relatives get together and prepare a huge table that must include a salad called Olivier. At midnight the president gives a speech and after everyone’s watching the fireworks. In conclusion I’d like to say that the New Year is probably one of the most beautiful and exciting holidays of the year and I feel like it really brings all the people together.
