Mr Smith is an old man. He's recently retired and so he's got a lot of time for travelling. He's соme to Moscow as a tourist Now he's sitting in the hotel hall and talking to Leonid Petrov, his guide.
Petrov: Is this your first visit to Moscow, Mr Smith?
Smith: Yes. But I've heard a lot about Moscow from my father. He was here before the Revolution. Moscow wasn't the capital then, was it?
Petrov: Quite right. It only became the capital in 1918.
Smith: The city has changed very much. You can hardly recognize any of the streets and squares. I don't think young people like you are member the dirty, narrow streets my father _saw in the suburbs, and in the centre, too during his visit.
Petrov: I'm afraid I don't. I wonder what you will say after you've seen our new district in the Sou th - West..
Smith: Oh, I've heard about it from a friend. He told me it was a beautiful place with wide, straight streets and many gardens. We are going there, aren,t we?
Petrov: Yes, well see it on the way to the new building of Moscow Uni versity.
Mr Smith аlsо said that he had heard a lot about the Tretyakov. Picture Gallery and would, like to see it. Leonid told him that they were planning to see the Gallery in a few days. They were also going to see towns and villages, hospitals, collective farms, museums, exhibitions and 'many 'other interesting things. Mr Smith hoped he would see several other important industrial and agricultural centres in the Soviet Union addition to Moscow.

Мистер Смит пожилой мужчина. Он недавно ушел на пенсию и у него есть много времени для путешествий. Он приехал в Москву как турист. Сейчас он сидит в холле отеля и разговаривает с Леонидом Петровым, его гидом. 
Петров: Это вашt первое посещение Москвы, Мистер Смит?
Смит: Да. Но я слышал о Москве от моего отца. Он бывал здесь до революции. Москва не была столицей тогда, да?
Петров: Совершенно верно. Стала столицей только в 1918. 
Смит: Город осень сильно изменился. Вы вряд ли признаете некоторые улицы и скверы. Я не думаю, что молодые люди, как вы, помнят грязные узкие улицы, которые мой отец видел на окраине и в центре, на протяжении его поездки.
Петров: Боюсь, я не видел. Интересно, что вы скажете после того, как увидите наш новый район на Юго-Западе. ..
Смит: О, я слышал об этом от друга. Он сказал мне, что это красивое место с большими прямыми улицами. и множеством садов. Мы будем там, не правда ли? 
Петров: Да, увидим по пути в здание Московского Университета. 

Мистер Смит также сказал, что он много слышал о Третьяковской галерее и он хочет увидеть её. Леонид сказал ему, что они планируют увидеть Галерею в следующие несколько дней. Они также увидят города и деревни, больниц, колхозы , музеи , выставки и много других интересных вещей.. Мистер Смит надеялся, что он увидит несколько других важных промышленных и сельскохозяйственных центров Советского Союза в дополнение к Москве.
