Britain - a parliamentary monarchy. The Queen is the official head of state, but it gets mostly representative functions. The Prime Minister is appointed by the Queen. The British Parliament consists of the House of Commons and House of Lords. House of Commons consists of the 6,500 elected members of parliament. They write the laws and discuss political issues. In the House of Lords over 1,100 permanent members, they learn and revise laws.
