Am I doing my homework?

My main problem is that it's hard to remember some words. Sometimes they are so alike. But I'm trying to work it out, reading books in English & watching some films on English. Also I have a problem with pronunciation. But, again, I read a lot. I hope that soon I will work it out, because I try my best.
1. Chips <u>have to</u> be of uniform size.
2. The remaining lignin <u>can</u> be oxidized and removed.
3. Baker knives <u>should</u> be changed three or four times a day.
