This year we have got two new subjects : History and I.T. In our History lessons our teacher tells us about life in the past. Her stories are very interesting. We also discuss questions in the History lesson. But my favourite subject is I. T. We learn to use the computer in I. T. lessons. I hope I'll get good marks in the new subject.
I like to go to the cinema. When I have free time, I always go to see a
new film. When I want to go to the cinema I usually look in the
programme what films are on. Then I phone my friend and we discuss what
films to see. We prefer feature films, but also enjoy cartoons and
popular science films. To see a good love story, musical or detective
film is a very pleasant way of spending free time. There are many
talented actors and actresses in this country. My favourite actor is
Oleg Yankovskyi. My favourite actress is Natalia Gundareva. They played
the leading parts in many films and I have always enjoyed their superb
acting. The last film I saw was the screen version of the novel "Gone
with the Wind" by Margaret Mitchell. It's an old film but it still
enjoys great popularity. There are many famous American actors in it
with Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable starring. I was deeply impressed by
their acting and the film itself. It hasn't lost its visual splendour
with the passage of time.

About 90 per cent of all
crimes in Great Britain are dealt (Present Simple Passive) with by
Magistrates’ courts which can impose fines or prison sentences of up to six
months.
Capital punishment was abolished (Past Simple Passive) in England in
November 1965.
In England there are no minimum sentences, except for murder, which carries a
penalty of life imprisonment, but life sentences are rarely more than 14 years,
because they can be reduced (Present Simple Passive) for good behavior,
often by one third or more.
Some murders are committed (Present
Simple Passive) by criminals evading arrest, by insane or mentally disturbed
people, by cold-blooded sadists completely devoid of all human feelings.
The important thing in the prevention of murder is to eliminate the weapons and
instruments with which these crimes are committed, (Present Simple
Passive) and to stop the dangerous influence of violence in books, films, and
other mass media, from which some criminals derive their “inspiration”.
Punishment can also be seen (Present Simple Passive) as a reform
because it warns other people of what will happen if they tempt to break the
law.
