Gerald Durrell was born in India in 1925. From early childhood he was fascinated with animals. His family was sure that the boy would overgrow that hobby but it never happened. Jerald began to make up stories at the age of 10, but his first real book appeared 12 years later. Durrel was a naturalist and needed money for his own zoo, so he took up writing. His most well-known book is “My Family and Other Animals” where he depicted his life on Corfu with his family and many wonderful animals.
