There are 23 national parks and 84 nature reserves in Russia. The purpose of nature reserves is to protect animals and plants which are in danger. One of the national parks is Valday in Novgorod region, which appeared on 17 May 1990. There people can enjoy such animals as bears, wolves foxes and otters, as well as Lake Valday and Lake Seliger. Another park is Losiny Ostrov, which was founded in 1983. There you may find deers, foxes and different kinds of birds. There is Barguzinsky nature reserve near Lake Baikal. It appeard on 19 Dec 1916. People can see sables there.
