The first European settlers appeared here around the 10th century, but it wasn’t until 1492 when Columbus officially discovered America. Today, more than 900 million people live in the Americas. The next in area is Antarctica. It covers over 14 million square kilometers. It is the coldest and the windiest continent in the world, which is mostly covered by ice. People don’t normally live there, but there are some regular expeditions that conduct researches across the continent. The smallest continent is Australia. Together with the Pacific Ocean islands it forms Oceania. In my opinion, the world is amazingly beautiful. It is almost impossible to explore it all. However, some explorers spend years to find out more about the sea world, the tropical forests and other interesting parts of our planet.
