Stephen Blumberg and His Stolen Books
In an unusual case, Stephen C. Blumberg was today given a six-year prison 1 sentence for the theft of rare books from libraries and universities. At his 2 trial he was found 3 guilty of stealing more than 20,000 books from 327 different places. In total, the books were worth about $20 million, making this the largest 4 crime of its kind in American 5 history.
Like many book 6 thieves, Blumberg was also a book lover. According to a friend, he didn't go to bed at night but instead read books until morning, falling asleep in his chair for a few 7 minutes at a time, then waking up to ontinue reading.
