If I found a sack of gold, I first of all would check whether there are in it any documents. If there were no papers, notes and business cards with a name of the person or the address, it means that gold belongs to nobody and I have full authority to appropriate it. But if there was, for example, someone's passport, then I or personally found the owner of this gold, or would carry it in police office.
Of course it would be better if this gold belonged to nobody, and I could appropriate it. I surely would spend it for something useful. For example it would be possible to make repair in the room or to buy new clothes, or to help the needing homeless children. For this gold it would be found many applications, but the main thing what it wouldn't be spent for nothing!
