Tulip FestivalThe world’s largest tulip festival is celebrated in Ottawa, May 18. It was held firstly in 1953. The symbolic tulip is Ottawa’s official flower. It was given to the Canadian people by the Dutch Royal Family. The Canadians helped the royal family during the Second World War. The tulip is the symbol of friendship and of spring. Festival-goers enjoy the beauty of nearly 300,000 tulips in bloom in 30 flower beds.
