Лачплесис is an ancient Latvian hero, the son of the woman and a bear, its unusual force was for a long time met in stories. The legend of Lachplesis was passed orally in folk tales and songs. Initially, Lachplesisa was called Lachausis ("bear-bearer"), but when he grew up, he began to possess an extraordinary strength, which he inherited from a bear. In the veins of Lachplesis, the blood of Livs flowed, and besides that he is considered a defender of Livs.
The Legend of Lachplesis is an allegorical saga about the life and history of the Latvian people, partly truthful, partly fictional, slightly comical and a bit sad .... But like all legends, of course, based on real events.
