Когда кто-то куда-то направляется, допустим, я иду В кино. I am going TO the cinema. То есть предлог направление. Так же служит для стран: I am going to China.
Когда идут два глагола в предложении, допустим: I like to play. То есть мы не можем сказать I like play, нужно обязательно после первого глагола добавлять частицу to ко второму, если он идёт сразу же после первого.
