She is a candidate of pedagogical Sciences (2010).
Her sports career began in 1987 with rhythmic gymnastics
Later on she was awarded the title of master of sports in rhythmic gymnastics.
After that she started doing pole vault.
She won her first gold medal for her jump to a height of 4.10 meters.
It was at the 1999 World youth games.
In 2003, Elena won the European championship, having conquered the mark at the height of 4.65 meters.
The same year she set a new world record at the height of 4.82 meters.
