Сравните:
to be rich — быть богатым, а to get rich — разбогатеть
to be lucky — быть везунчиком, а to get lucky — поймать удачу

Ваш пример:
I was inspired — Я был воодушевлен/вдохновлен

И еще to get можно использовать в разных временных формах:
