He was glad of his soul: he would soon reach his homeland - the island of Ithaki, soon embrace Penelope, his beloved wife, and the son of Telemachus whom he had not seen for ten years. But the peaceful voyage did not last long: the thunderbird sent the north wind of Boreas to Odyssey's ships. Dark clouds came in the sky, all darkness enveloped; three times the god Boreas took the sail from the masts of the ships. If it had not happened near a small island, near the shores of which there was a lull, Odyssey's ships would have died in the depths of the sea.
